The Victorian Association of Teachers of Italian (VATI) protects all personal information and health information which it collects, holds and uses in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.

We gather this information solely to manage your membership of VATI and the services that we provide you. We will not collect information that does not pertain to this. In order to serve the purpose of the Association and to improve the service we provide VATI may use collected information for evaluation and research purposes.

All collected information will be protected against loss and unauthorised use or disclosure. VATI will not disclose individual information to third parties without seeking express permission first. You will always be able to request access to the information VATI holds about you.

Our website

Whenever you visit our website, our web host may record general information for evaluation and review. As with most websites, this information is likely to include:

  • Your internet address - including your domain name i.e. yourschool.vic.edu.au
  • When you visited the VATI website
  • The pages you visited and any information and documentation you downloaded
  • The website you were looking at immediately preceding your visit to VATI site
  • Basic information about the types of computer operating system and web browser you are using

This information is used for statistical analysis only as a means of updating and improving our website. It will not be used to identify you or your internet viewing activity.

Email addresses

VATI will only record your email address if you send a message and we need to reply to your query. We will add your address to our general mailing list because you have expressed interest in the activities and purpose of VATI but you will always be given the clear opportunity to "opt out" of this list. Your email address will not be disclosed to third parties and will be stored securely.

Security

The VATI website and email server does not provide for secure transmission across the internet. VATI recommends that you contact the office by telephone or post if you have any concerns about sending information over the internet. This privacy policy does not relate to sites linked to the VATI website.

Contact

On request, subject to the exceptions set out in the National Privacy Principles, an individual will be provided with access to personal information held about them and given reasonable opportunity to correct any inaccuracies or our-of-date information.
