Session Summary

This session provides a tried and tested approach to planning a lesson sequence using the Year 7/8 standards from the 7-10 Victorian Curriculum pathway. Participants are encouraged to become more familiar with the Standards in order to see beyond the confines of topic/textbook based planning. Through demystifying curriculum planning, oral focused pedagogy comes to the fore, promoting stronger vocabulary retention, engagement in the course and progression through the standards. This session will showcase planning templates, assessment samples, technology tools, student work and testimonials in an attempt to show that junior languages is the foundation for post compulsory studies to flourish.

Bio

Amy is an Indonesian teacher and passionate curriculum innovator, specialising in boys’ education across years 7-10. She currently leads Learning and Teaching at St Bede’s College, Bentleigh East Campus and is excited and challenged by contemporising curriculum at a dual campus college. Previously, Amy has worked as a Languages Coach with MACS, connecting with teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools, visiting teachers in their classrooms and supporting professional development driven goals. Amy loves to look at languages differently, promoting a love of learning, success and engagement.
