ABSTRACT

Exploring the benefits of developing a systematic approach to gestures in any bilingual, CLIL or LOTE setting. Explores the benefits for student outcomes, benefits for teachers, how to teach the gestures explicitly, links to the VTLM 2.0 and how maximise the efficacy through a whole-school or program-wide scope and sequence.

Nick Boffa

Nick is a bilingual classroom teacher at Brunswick South Primary School and he has over five years’ experience in bilingual settings. Nick began his teaching career at Avondale Primary School as the Italian LOTE teacher and has been teaching for over a decade. He has authored articles and previously presented his work on Intentional Teaching Gestures at the LTV annual conference in 2025
