The model UN conference is a creative simulation of a session of the UN General Assembly through a creative role play and debate. It will be all in Italian. Teams of 4 students per school will become ambassadors for a particular country that is assigned to them. They will have to present their assigned country’s position on the issue facing the Assembly. They will have to negotiate and interact with other students ambassadors to eventually arrive at a compromise based on their country’s national interest and international responsibilities. The topic is The Heat is On: Climate Change and the Environment. The conference is an opportunity for students to learn about international relations, the United Nations system and global issues in a fun, dynamic environment, while developing their negotiation and public speaking skills.
